Mark 6:45-56

Welcome to Timeless Truth with Pastor Jim Thomas. In season 2, Pastor Jim is leading us in a study of Mark. Today’s passage is Mark 6:45-56.

1. We are never out of the Lord’s sight. V. 47-48b

“For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His”
– 2 Chronicles 16:9

Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness
– Psalms 33:18

2. We are never out of the Lord’s reach. V. 48c-49

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
– Romans 8:38-39

3. In the Lord’s presence we find courage, comfort, and calm. v. 50-51

“Many Christians estimate difficulties in light of their own resources, and thus attempt little and often fail in the little they attempt. All God’s giants have been weak men who did great things for God because they reckoned on his power and presence being with them.””
– Hudson Taylor

4. Have you acknowledged who Jesus is and placed your trust in Him?

“His eyes never slumber, and His hands never rest; His heart never ceases to beat with love, and His shoulders are never weary of carrying His people’s burdens.”
– Charles H. Spurgeon

“You were made for something more than merely avoiding failure. There is something inside you that wants to walk on water – to leave the comfort of routine existence and abandon yourself to the high adventure of following God.”
– John Ortberg, If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat
