Art Show: Brent Hunter – Travel Sketches

Nashville is home to a wealth of creative talent and we love to feature work from TVC’s own artist in our Gallery from time-to-time. Our current art show features the work of Brent Hunter. The work displayed in his new show Travel Sketches: To Carry and to Leave Behind focuses on the ephemeral nature of our memories. As Brent puts it, “taking time to observe and draw allows a person to truly experience and remember a place.” The Gallery is located in the Living Room at the Hillsboro Village Campus.

TVC Kids Worship Arts: Create & First Wednesdays

Our First Wednesdays are a wonderful time for the whole family! Kids of all ages are invited to join TVC Kids Worship Arts: Create on February 5 at 6 pm in Miss Jamie’s Classroom (Room 105). This will be a fun-filled evening for K-5th graders to learn more about God creating all things and honoring Him through the arts. Parents – mark your calendars for the return of our Biblical Thinking series that same evening. RSVP below!

Paid Traffic Leaders Needed

Do you enjoy meeting new people and offering assistance to others?  We are in need of Traffic Team Leaders on Sunday mornings at both our Hillsboro Village and East Nashville campuses. Our Traffic Team Leaders work hard each week by providing a friendly first impression and assuring all TVC attendees find parking. This is a paid position that requires a four-hour weekly commitment at Hillsboro Village or a three-hour weekly commitment at East Nashville. Interested? Email [email protected] for more information.

Financial Peace University

As we continue to set goals for the New Year, so many of us desire to evaluate how we honor God with our finances. Financial Peace University is a great resource to learn more about budgeting and financial stewardship through a Christian worldview with the goal of becoming debt-free. This nine-week class will meet on Sundays at 10:15 am in the Meeting Room at our East Nashville Campus beginning February 9. Learn more about Financial Peace University and register for the class below. Registration fee also includes the Financial Peace University kit!

Creative Arts Potluck

Nashville is home to some extraordinary creative talent… and from time to time we feature the works of those who call The Village Chapel home at our Creative Arts Potluck. We will host our next potluck featuring a new art show by TVCer Brent Hunter titled “Travel Sketches: To Carry & To Leave Behind” on Friday, January 24 at 6 pm in the Living Room at the Hillsboro Village Campus. As a side venture to his day job as an architect, Brent’s art is often crafted through unconventional methods but always results in beautiful sketches from his travels. Musical guest Luke Gibson, who can often be found playing as part of the worship team at both TVC campuses on Sunday mornings, will also be performing at the Creative Arts Potluck. Start your new year off with some creative inspiration and fellowship at this upcoming potluck. Bring a dish to share. RSVP below.

Room In The Inn

Each year, we gather together as a church alongside our ministry partner Room In The Inn to serve local homeless by hosting them overnight at First Baptist Church downtown. We need more than 50 volunteers to make this ministry opportunity possible. Beginning Sunday afternoon, February 2 (Super Bowl Sunday), and running through the next morning, we’ll serve dinner, snacks, breakfast and send the men off with sack lunches. There are opportunities to provide food in advance as well as serve on site. Sign up to serve below.

If you need assistance signing up, please email [email protected] or visit the Info Table on Sunday morning at either campus.

New Sunday Schools: The Prayers of David

David was a man after God’s own heart who often sought the Lord through prayer. Our new “The Prayers of David” Sunday School class will study David’s prayerful demeanor as an example of taking our petitions and prayers to our Creator. This class combines a personal level of reflection to these powerful prayers as well as a study of cultural and historical content to bring a richer understanding of the Old Testament, David and the power of prayer. This six-week Sunday School class will begin on Sunday, January 12 at 10 am in the Bonus Room at our Hillsboro Village Campus. No sign-up or RSVP required.

Sunday Small Groups

The new year is a wonderful time to take the leap to get connected with community here at The Village Chapel. We offer a variety of Sunday Small Groups focused on growing in your faith and strengthening relationships with those in our church no matter your age or stage of life.

Our College-Age Group (led by Jonathan Harrell and Kelly Richardson) will resume their weekly meetings on Sunday, January 12 diving into a variety of topics relevant to those about to take their next steps in the world. This group meets on Sundays at 11:30 am in the Living Room. The new 20s Sunday Small Group led by Kevin and Kelly Rudd will also meet on Sundays at 11:30 am in the Bonus Room. Whether you’re single or married, this class welcomes those in their 20s, starting their career, just out of college or in grad school searching for a community of fellow believers.

The 30s and 40s Sunday Small Group, led by Jan and Mickey Harlow with Jake and Caroline Smith, meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 am in the Living Room. For those established in their careers, starting families or simply looking to grow alongside those in this age group, we hope you join us.

Led by Mel and Sandy Smith, our 50s+ group will continue meeting each Sunday morning during the 8:30 am hour in the Family Room.
