Call To Worship: Let Us Go to the House of the Lord

LEADER:  I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord!
PEOPLE:  Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God!

LEADER:  Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure.
PEOPLE:  Blessed is he whose hope is in the Lord, who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them.

LEADER:  The Lord will reign forever – your God, O Zion, to all generations.
ALL:  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Classic Prayer: CLEMENT OF ROME

After Paul and Peter were martyred in Rome, Clement became a leader of the church there. Just as Paul had to write letters to the church in Corinth to confront the problems within the young church in a difficult city, Clement also did. His letter of skillful tone and challenge to reconciliation and renewed faith is said to be one of the earliest documents we have outside of the New Testament. His deeply pastoral heart urged humility and laying aside angry disputes and pride. A message perfect for our ears today. His humble prayer will be ours today.

We beg you, Lord and Master, to be our help and aid. Save those among us who are in tribulation; have mercy on the lowly; lift up the fallen; show yourself unto the needy; heal the ungodly; convert the wanderers of your people; feed the hungry; release our prisoners; raise up the weak; comfort the fainthearted. Let all … know that you are God alone, and Jesus Christ is your Son, and we are your people and the sheep of your pasture.
