The Wilderness: The Places of Advent

This week on Creative Thinking, we’re in The Places of Advent, beginning with the story of Jesus’ birth in Luke 2, and now Isaiah’s prophecy of hope in the wilderness.

In this episode, we move to the wilderness — a place of preparation, honesty, and transformation. A space where God shapes His people and whispers His promises. We’ll reflect on how these sacred places still speak today, inviting us to slow down, pay attention, and prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming.

The Wilderness is:

1. A place of preparation

“The child grew and became strong in spirit, and He was in the wilderness until the day of His public appearance to Israel.”
Luke 1:80

“Righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.”
Luke 1:6

2. An unmasking place
3. A place of transition
4. His (place) workshop for redemption

“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain.”
C. S. Lewis
