Ephesians 3:16-19
Welcome to Timeless Truth with Pastor Jim Thomas. In season 1, Pastor Jim is leading us in a study of Ephesians. Today’s passage is Ephesians 3:16-19.
Paul prays the believers would be:
1. Strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit We cannot do this on our own strength, we won’t have the want to, the will to, the courage or the power to, without the Holy Spirit.
2. The dwelling place of Christ through faith Make your heart His home. Make sure Jesus is comfortable in every room and with all that goes on in your life. Surrender your affections to His redirection.
3. Rooted and grounded in love Do we REALLY know what it means that the Almighty God of the universe LOVES us? Get in the Word, marinate in the Gospel of grace, dig roots deep into the timeless truths of the scriptures, remind yourself every day that you belong to the Lord, as His son or daughter, and there is nothing that can separate you from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus.
4. Able to comprehend together with all the saints the expansive nature of God’s love for us. Breadth, length, height, and depth = the love of God for you can have a transforming impact on you in every direction because it reaches into every area of life: spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, vocational, financial, psychological, philosophical, recreational, and especially relational.
5. Able to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge! In other words: we need to remind ourselves of how the love of Christ for us is mind blowing, eye popping, heart-thumping, and soul-stirring!
6. Filled up to all the fullness of God That is, we finite beings are filled up to overflowing with the infinite presence, power, love and the glory of Jesus Christ.
“I must get rid of this thought that God is standing between me and my desires and that which is best for me. I must see God as my Father who has purchased my ultimate good in Christ, and is waiting to bless me with His own fullness in Christ Jesus.”
– M.L. Jones, Studies in the Sermon on the Mount, p. 309
“…the will of God for your life is pretty straightforward: Be holy like Jesus, by the power of the Spirit, for the glory of God.”
– Kevin DeYoung, Just Do Something, p62
Today, in all you do and say…
Live in constant communion with the presence of the Holy Spirit, love God the Father, love every person you come into contact with, say all you say and do all you do, for the glory of Jesus. Amen?
