Mark 6:7-13

Welcome to Timeless Truth with Pastor Jim Thomas. In season 2, Pastor Jim is leading us in a study of Mark. Today’s passage is Mark 6:7-13.

Four great philosophical questions:

  1. Where did we come from?
  2. Why are we here?
  3. How can we know the difference between what is right and what is wrong?
  4. What is our destiny?

I seek to persuade you that the Bible and Christianity provide meaningful answers to these four questions. Here we find clues to how followers of Jesus might answer them.

  1. They were called
  2. They were equipped
  3. They were sent

“Do you want to know a truth that in the momentous challenges of our modern world will be at once a quest to inspire you, an anchor to hold you fast, a rich fare to nourish you, and a relationship you will prize above all others? Listen to Jesus of Nazareth; answer his call.”
-Os Guinness, The Call

“God wants to share his love with us, not only by making us the objects of love but also by equipping us to share his love with others.”
–Timothy Savage

“The resurrection of Jesus was a kind of nuclear explosion which sent out a radioactive cloud, not lethal, but life-giving, and the mission of the church is simply the continuing communication of that joy – joy in the Lord.”
– Lesslie Newbigin, Signs Amid the Rubble
