From Desperation to Salvation

  1. These miracles describe desperate people who had run out of resources

“Human beings do not readily admit desperation. When they do, the kingdom of heaven draws near.”
    – Philip Yancey, The Jesus I Never Knew

  2. These miracles describe people with imperfect faith

“For prayer is request. The essence of request, as distinct from compulsion, is that it may or may not be granted. And if an infinitely wise Being listens to the requests of finite and foolish creatures, of course He will sometimes grant and sometimes refuse them.”
    – C. S. Lewis

  3. These miracles remind us that Christ is the answer to both our hope in life and our fear of death

“If your every human plan and calculation has miscarried,  if, one by one, human props have been knocked out, and doors have shut in your face, take heart.  God is trying to get a message through to you, and the message is: “Stop depending on inadequate human resources.  Let me handle the matter.”
    – Catherine Marshall

“God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him.”
– Andrew Murray
