Burgers & Bibles

Week Four: How Can You Take The Bible Literally?

One of the participants in the Tim Keller’s study said, “The Bible is a wonderful text, it’s complex, a lot of things going on, some people believe it to be the truth, I myself do not.” How might you respond to that statement if it was made by a longtime friend? How would you respond to that statement in a conversation with a neighbor with whom you are only recently getting to know?

When looking at a particular passage in the Bible, what does it mean to ask the questions: “What genre is this text? Where are we in the text? When are we in the text?”

As we examine and lament over the recent events in our world, this is a particularly timely discussion.
