The Teaching Table

You hear us say every week, “We study through books of the Bible here at TVC.”

One key component of preparing for that humbling task is gathering around a table as a pastoral team to prayerfully study the text together in our regular sermon preparation meetings. Starting in 2026, we’d like to welcome you to join us for these meetings once each quarter with something we’re calling The Teaching Table.

In these gatherings, we open God’s Word to consider the text for the upcoming Sunday, share insights, and seek the Lord together for wisdom and faithful application. The four questions we ask of every text are:

• What does God reveal about Himself in this text?
• What does this text show us about human vulnerability and sinfulness?
• How is the gospel of Christ seen or foreshadowed in this passage?
• What faith response is being asked for in this text?

Why are we starting The Teaching Table?

To equip and encourage those who have the weighty responsibility of teaching or facilitating at TVC, including home group leaders, small group leaders, and those who faithfully teach our children and students. We are convinced that we learn best when we learn together. We have found that our own teaching is much stronger, clearer, and more fruitful when we seek God and study His Word together.

We’ll meet the first Tuesday of each quarter from 2:30 – 3:30 pm in The Family Room. Before each gathering, we’ll send the upcoming text to read ahead along with an RSVP link.

We are eager for you to join us and to see how the Lord will move as we “let the Word of Christ dwell richly among us.” (Col 3:16)
