Revelation 7

Revelation 7 is an interlude between the 6th and the 7th seal. The camera has shifted towards the heavenly realm where we find the sealed people of God in vibrant worship. In this vision we are given a glimpse of the innumerable Church gathered together from every tribe, tongue and nation giving praise. This multitude has been sealed, they are singing and they are fully satisfied as they worship God and the Lamb!

Revelation: The Hope of Glory

Revelation 7

“God’s wrath is not a cranky explosion, but his settled opposition to the cancer of sin which is eating out the insides of the human race he loves with his whole being.”
Becky Pippert, Hope Has Its Reasons

“Why do these stand before God’s throne? What qualifies them to be there? The twin facts that they have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, and do emerge from suffering. He who is numbered among that multitude is the man who has been cleansed from his old life of sin (a past event) and been given an irrepressible new life which no tribulation can quench (a present experience).”
Michael Wilcock, Bible Speaks Today

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
John Piper, The Dangerous Duty of Delight

1. All those who have been redeemed through the Lamb are sealed.

What is the significance of a seal?
1. Ownership
2. Authenticity
3. Protection

2. All those who have been redeemed through the Lamb are singing.

“They worship Him; that is, they render to Him the spontaneous, glad, and thorough devotion of the heart. It is an unceasing worship. These redeemed saints in glory, moreover, experience the sweetest, fullest, and most intimate fellowship with God through Christ; they worship Him in His sanctuary, that is, in His immediate presence. The One who sits on the throne treats them as His own dear children, for such by grace they are; He spreads His presence like a tent over them.”
William Hendriksen, More Than Conquerors

3. All those who have been redeemed through the Lamb will be satisfied.

“God’s beautiful but tantalizing world is too big for us, yet its satisfactions are too small. Since we were made for eternity, the things of time cannot fully and permanently satisfy.”
Derek Kidner

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”
Ephesians 1I.:13-14
