Revelation 5

Revelation 4 and 5 give us a glimpse into the throne room of heaven and what an amazing vision it is! Here we find incredible images of an important scroll held closed by 7 seals and the momentary realization that there might be no one worthy to open the scroll. John begins to weep in despair until one of the elders steps forward to point him to Jesus who is described as the Lion of Judah, the Root of David, and the Lamb who was slain. Join Pastor Jim as he unfolds the explosion of hope and the joyful response of all creation to this great news!

Revelation: The Hope of Glory

Revelation 4

  1. The occupied throne of heaven
  2. The awestruck occupants of heaven
  3. The God-centered worship of heaven, consisting of:
    – Informed minds
    – Inflamed hearts
    – Engaged hands

“We have a sure hope because of what Jesus accomplished in the past upon the cross as the Lamb of God. We have a living hope because of the present occupied throne of God in heaven.”
Scotty Smith, UnveiledHоре

Revelation 5 reminds us that because Jesus is Worthy…

  1. The seals will be broken; the scroll will be opened.
  2. Our hearts will rejoice with irrepressible worship!
  3. He will reconcile people from every tribe, tongue, people and nation to the holy God and also to each another.
  4. He is all at the same time the Lion, the Root, and the Lamb; and therefore, Jesus embodies the entirety of the Gospel of God’s grace on offer to us!

“Christian worship is the most momentous, the most urgent, the most glorious action that can take place in human life.”
Karl Barth

“When God and his glory are made our end, we shall find a silent likeness pass in upon us; the beauty of God will, by degrees, enter upon our soul.”
Stephen Charnock

“To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, and to devote the will to the purpose of God.”
William Temple
