Does God Love Me?

1 John 3:1-10

The apostle John opens what we call Chapter 3 with an exclamatory outburst: “Behold!” = Look at this! See what marvelous love the Father has for us that we would be called the children of God!!

v. 2 Not only is it a privilege to be called the children of God (v1) but John states even more boldly, “now we are the children of God.” In other words, we’re not merely called children of God we are in reality, right now, God’s children.

“Our lifelong need to be known is met most profoundly in being known completely and fully by God our Father, who gives us our identity as his beloved children. And that identity changes everything.”
Brian Rosner

We are to be watching, waiting, and anticipating! We should have a healthy sense of urgency, mixed with the great hope of our destiny; living for both the return of the Lord, and for the Lord Who is returning!

“What is a Christian? The question can be answered in many ways, but richest answer I know is that a Christian is one who has God as Father.”
J.I. Packer, Knowing God

“Almighty Father, enter our hearts,
and so fill us with your love, that,
forsaking all evil desires,
we may embrace you,
our only good.

Show unto us, for your mercies’ sake,
O Lord our God, what you are unto us.
Say unto our souls, “I am your salvation.”
So speak that we may hear.

Our hearts are before you; open our ears;
let us hasten after your voice,
and take hold of you.”
