Touchstone Youth Resource Services
Touchstone Youth Resource Services is a faith-based initiative dedicated to nurturing the social-emotional development of teens through a multifaceted approach. By offering weekly small groups, monthly service-learning projects, and quarterly enrichment activities focusing on fine arts, outdoor adventure, college visits, and more, we provide a comprehensive platform for a young person’s growth. As a body of Believers, Touchstone’s mission is to help teens envision a hopeful future, embrace positive options, and engage in a better life!
The generous contributions from The Village Chapel have been instrumental in sustaining and expanding our youth development programs at Touchstone Youth Resource Services. With TVC’s support, we have provided CiViL character development groups to more than 100 students at five local public schools. These students participated in their annual SHOW OUR LOVE service project, which stocked their schools and other community agencies with care packs of toiletries and feminine hygiene products. This was possible mainly due to TVC’s collection drive for those items for CiViL’s SHOW OUR LOVE. Highlights from this school year are a college visit to UT Chattanooga, a career day in federal court, which included a citizenship naturalization ceremony, and free senior portraits for deserving students who couldn’t otherwise afford them. TVC’s donations directly impact the lives of the teens we serve, enabling them to build social-emotional and character assets that equip them for success.
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Touchstone’s CiViL initiative. We are putting together a committee of Touchstone supporters, community leaders, and CiViL alumni to organize a celebration for CiViL, our annual Touchstone Tribute fundraiser. Since 2004, thousands of teens have acknowledged CiViL as a significant part of their social, emotional, and spiritual formation. This event will honor the past two decades of ministry and raise funding for the future.
Touchstone needs volunteers for the Touchstone Tribute Committee, for the BiG Blessing Benefit sale in July, and to assist with the CiViL Summer program (which requires background checks and training). To volunteer, contact – Melony Pugh-Weber at [email protected].
