Organizations We Support

Begin Anew

Begin Anew empowers individuals to overcome obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources. Begin Anew serves the Middle Tennessee area through three physical locations in Davidson County (Nashville, Madison, and Woodbine), one in Williamson County (Franklin), and a new Online Campus that serves Davidson, Williamson, and surrounding counties. The program provides three curriculum tracks for adult students: High School Equivalency (HSE) test preparation, English Language Learning (ELL), and Computer and Job Skills. In addition, we offer weekly Community Groups so students feel community support and can grow spiritually. The adult students we serve are 18 or older, except for minors with parental and school board consent, at our five campuses.

Thanks to TVC’s partnership in 2024, we served over 400 adult students from over 41 countries of origin, with 60% of these adult students between the ages of 25 and 44. We also celebrated 42 program graduates in 2024, with 65% of the over 400 students continuing to make forward progress or graduating. TVC provided needed curriculum (paper and digital), volunteer training (over 200 volunteers served as teachers, tutors, mentors, and more throughout 2024), and staff support.

Reoccurring volunteers serve as teachers, tutors, mentors, and children’s program providers who create a safe community for students to thrive and learn. The Program Manager and volunteers are integral to each student’s success.

We also have the perfect project for Sunday School Classes/Life Groups. We dream of securing light meals for all our campuses twice a week. Adult students often arrive at class directly from work and do not have the resources or opportunity to eat dinner in advance. We continue to seek meals for our Madison Campus. What an excellent opportunity for a group of Sunday School classes/Life Groups to come together to provide a monthly meal for the Madison Campus.

Volunteers can also adopt a campus for a special occasion (any holiday) or sponsor a graduation celebration in June or December each year. To volunteer, reach out to Teresa Watts. For more information about Begin Anew, visit our website.
