Organizations We Support
Begin Anew
TVC’s generous support is empowering individuals to overcome obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources. Begin Anew serves the Middle Tennessee area through three physical locations in Davidson County (Nashville, Madison, and Woodbine), one in Williamson County (Franklin), and a new Online Campus that serves Davidson, Williamson, and surrounding counties. The program provides three curriculum tracks for adult students: High School Equivalency (HSE) test preparation, English Language Learning (ELL), and Computer and Job Skills. In addition, they offer weekly Community Groups so students feel the community’s support and can grow spiritually. The adult students they serve are ages 18 years or older, except minors with parental and school board consent, at their five campuses. All services are free to enrolled students, and they serve people of all faiths and cultures. While services are free to the students, their cost per student averages $2,500 annually.
With support from TVC, in 2023, they served over 38 countries of origin, 333 adult students, celebrated 53 graduates, and served over 75 children whose parents were enrolled in their programs.
At a recent Second Saturday of City Service project, TVC Volunteers assembled over 200 Pick Me Up bags for students at all four campus locations. The bags were filled with lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste, prayer cards, gum, mints, water bottles and more. This project lifted the adult students’ spirits and powerfully expressed God’s love.
Begin Anew always needs volunteers to serve as prayer warriors, teachers, tutors, encouragers, and childcare providers. Their goal is also to serve meals to all our campuses, as students often come to class after working many hours. They need meal providers for their Madison Campus—an excellent project for a home or small group to consider doing together. To volunteer, contact Teresa Watts at [email protected].
