Home Groups: Mission & Vision

Leaders/Hosts Covenant

The Village Chapel Home Groups Mission Statement: Why do we exist?

The Village Chapel Home Groups exist to nourish and support the mission of our larger church body of believers, to enfold and embrace newcomers, and to deepen a sense of fellowship, belonging and community as we grow deeper in Christ together.

Goals: What do we seek to accomplish?

To embody the ministry of The Village Chapel within smaller, family-like units, meeting in homes with a “living room” atmosphere, where spiritual growth is pursued, honesty is encouraged, prayer is offered, and deeper relationships are nurtured.

Vision: What results do we hope to see?

People growing in relationship with each other, leaning on one another for love, encouragement, and prayer, serving and worshipping the Lord together. Each group is connected to the others, to The Village Chapel, to the body of Christ as a whole, and to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Four things we ask of those who attend:

Commitment, Candor, Confidentiality, Community

What we do not do: So that everyone has a chance to be heard and/or ministered to, we don’t allow any one individual to dominate the group’s discussion or prayer time. In order to keep our focus on the Lord and our unity in Christ, we do NOT discuss politics, social or theologically controversial issues that may divide us. If there are persistent questions about these things, we will ask TVC’s Home Groups Coordinator for advice.

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
Ephesians 4:16

They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42

Covenant:

As a Home Group Leader/Host, I recognize there are both freedoms and responsibilities that come with this kind of servant leadership.

I will commit to serving under the mission, goal and vision of TVC Home Groups. I will do all that I can to foster commitment, confidentiality, candor and community in my group.

I commit to using approved curriculum to lead and teach our group. I recognize that a list of pre-approved curriculum is available by contacting TVC’s Home Groups Coordinator and that I have access to Right Now Media content. If I have a book or study that is outside of these options, I will bring it to the Home Groups Coordinator to be considered for approval at least 6 weeks before I would plan on using it, to give ministerial leadership the ability to read, research and approve the book or study.

For the sake of unity in the church and out of love for the group, I commit to speaking with ministerial leadership (MLT) should anything arise within the group that is uncharacteristic of the mission, vision and goals of TVC Home Groups.
