Israel 2023

Step into the scriptures with Pastor Jim and see the Bible come alive on an unforgettable tour!

We invite you to join TVC for a trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land in March 2023! We will embark on an 11-day journey where the Bible will come alive as we study along with Pastor Jim, walk where Jesus walked with the disciples in the first century and visit many sights in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho and the region around the Sea of Galilee. This trip will be more than a vacation or a check on your bucket list; it will impact how you read, connect and understand the Bible.

COVID-19 Protocols

As new variants of the Covid-19 virus emerge, we thought it would be prudent to remind you of the ways TVC prioritizes the health of our congregation.

  • Masks and hand sanitizer are available at each entrance of our building and at various locations throughout.
  • Masking is optional for TVC Kids teachers and volunteers while serving.
  • Families should use their best discretion on their children/youth masking while on campus.
  • TVC Kids toys and rooms are sanitized and cleaned thoroughly each week.
  • Because vaccinations are widely available to the public ages 5 years and older, masks and social distancing are optional on campus.
  • Please stay home if you or your child are not feeling well or test positive for COVID-19.
  • The Family Room is available for those that don’t feel comfortable worshiping in the Chapel. This space provides room for social distancing and wearing masks is encouraged.

If you can’t be with us in person, we invite you to join us at TVC Online on Sundays at 10 am or stream our services anytime at youtube.com/thevillagechapel

TVC Easter Prayer 2021

God our Father-

It has been a long Good Friday year…

Church doors have been sealed
The bells have not pealed
We’ve worn masks as a shield

Loved ones unseen, hands scrubbed but unclean, Lord where have you been?

It’s been a long Good Friday year.

The tears came unending
The sick needed mending
The soul cried for tending

Earth shuddered, hope stuttered, alleluias only muttered

Through this long Good Friday year.

And though we long to come near
come close enough to hear
to bend low and peer –
It’s been a long Good Friday year.

Perhaps the three days have passed
The risen savior at last
Defeating death’s cold grasp

Good Friday done, our redemption won, by the gift of God’s son
Resurrection mornings … never ending

Glorias restored,
the redeemer adored,
our savior and Lord
Who by grace we believed, what our hearts have perceived, of the gift we’ve received

forgiveness from sin, again and again, Amen and amen.

The Shield of Saint Patrick

I bind unto myself today
the strong name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, the One in Three.

I bind this day to me forever
by power of faith Christ’s incarnation,
His baptism in the Jordan river,
His death on the cross for my salvation;

His bursting from the spiced tomb,
His riding up the heavenly way,
His coming at the day of doom,
I bind unto myself today.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me;
Christ to comfort and restore me;

Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself the name,
the strong name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, and One in Three,
of whom all nature hath creation,
eternal Father, Spirit, Word;
praise to the God of my salvation,
salvation is of Christ the Lord!

Because dealing with the loss of a loved one can feel like a unique and sometimes isolating experience, we’d like to invite you to join our GriefShare group this spring at The Village Chapel. This group will meet for twelve weeks beginning on Tuesday, April 6 at 6pm with the option to attend via Zoom or at the Hillsboro Village Campus. We will listen to video interviews with experts, hear and share stories with one another during group discussions and, most importantly, focus on drawing near to God as He guides each individual on their personal journey.

There is a $25 fee for course materials which includes the class workbook that participants will keep. We will mail these individually to participants who prefer to participate via Zoom. For those attending at the Hillsboro Village Campus, your book will be ready to pick-up on the first evening of class.

We are Maribeth and Butch Burns and we host a home group in our house in the Nippers Corner area in south Nashville. Our group meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 where we spend time praying and studying God’s word to know Him better, but also time to fellowship and invest in each others’ life. In between studies and at other random times we eat dinner together but most weeks we just have a snack. No childcare is provided.

Sunday Small Groups

The new year is a wonderful time to take the leap to get connected with community here at The Village Chapel. We offer a variety of Sunday Small Groups focused on growing in your faith and strengthening relationships with those in our church no matter your age or stage of life.

Our College-Age Group (led by Jonathan Harrell and Kelly Richardson) will resume their weekly meetings on Sunday, January 12 diving into a variety of topics relevant to those about to take their next steps in the world. This group meets on Sundays at 11:30 am in the Living Room. The new 20s Sunday Small Group led by Kevin and Kelly Rudd will also meet on Sundays at 11:30 am in the Bonus Room. Whether you’re single or married, this class welcomes those in their 20s, starting their career, just out of college or in grad school searching for a community of fellow believers.

The 30s and 40s Sunday Small Group, led by Jan and Mickey Harlow with Jake and Caroline Smith, meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 am in the Living Room. For those established in their careers, starting families or simply looking to grow alongside those in this age group, we hope you join us.

Led by Mel and Sandy Smith, our 50s+ group will continue meeting each Sunday morning during the 8:30 am hour in the Family Room.

Home Groups – Fall 2019

Are you looking to get more involved at TVC and grow stronger in your faith? Home Groups are one of the best ways to connect and find deeper community (often right in your neighborhood!) that goes beyond our Sunday worship services. At The Village Chapel we believe in developing community that doesn’t feel “forced.” Instead of having assigned small groups, we offer what we simply refer to as TVC Home Groups. You choose a group based on location, day of the week, a connection with the leaders, etc. Then you just plug in. Each group involves a time of fellowship, discussion and prayer, but they develop different personalities based on the people who attend. Learn more at here.

Current Home Groups v4

If you are looking for community that goes beyond our weekend meetings, joining a Home Group is one of the best ways to connect with our church body. We have more than two dozen groups that meet weekly or every other week on various nights during the school year at locations all around Nashville. Some continue to meet during the summer months, but be sure to check before showing up.

At The Village Chapel we believe in developing community that doesn’t feel “forced.” Instead of having permanent, assigned small groups based on your zip code or the first letter of your last name, you can choose any group you want. For your convenience, they’re sorted by location, day of the week, etc. Each group involves a time of fellowship, discussion and prayer, but they develop different personalities based on the people who attend. Some groups require a semester-long commitment while others are open for those who need the flexibility to come and go or who want the freedom to try a few different groups before settling in. Click on any link below for more information on a specific group. Once you find the right group for you, click on the “email leader” button.

Group details for the fall season are currently in the process of being updated.
