Sunday School at TVC
In addition to our Sunday Worship Services, Home Groups and mid-week studies, we also offer several Sunday School classes aimed at different groups and ages. Many are ongoing, while some are for a limited time.
Our Current Classes:
6th, 7th & 8th Grade Sunday School
11:30 am, the Attic, TVC Main
At the same time TVC Kids are dismissed during the 11:30 am service, 6th-8th grade middle schoolers will head to the back of Chapel to meet Youth Director Luke Hagberg. They’ll head upstairs to the Attic youth space for their own Sunday morning study, going through the Gospel Project, a three-year curriculum designed to study from Genesis through Revelation seeing how God’s story throughout the Bible is one of redemption.
TVC College-Age Ministry
11:30 am, the Living Room, TVC Main
Our College-Age Ministry is doing an eight-week study on the topic Exploring God, examining seven big questions, including does life have a purpose and why does God allow pain and suffering. None of us have it all figured out. We all have questions. We hope you’ll join the discussion.
Young Adult Sunday Morning Gathering
10 am, the Living Room, TVC Main
Our Young Adult Sunday Morning Gathering is currently going through a six-week study on faith and relationships using the Scott Sauls book and video series befriend. Is real friendship too risky? Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we often retreat to the safety of our small, self-made digital worlds. Tragically, even the church can become a place that reinforces this isolation. But Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. It’s true that love makes us vulnerable, but without risk, our lives will remain impoverished.
50s+ Sunday School
8:30 am, the Family Room, TVC Main
The 50s+ Group is currently focusing on the spiritual battle that rages as the enemy of our souls attempts to draw us away from God’s Kingdom by reading and discussing C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters. One of the most creative and helpful explanations of spiritual warfare, each chapter is a letter from a senior demon (Screwtape) to an apprentice (Wormwood). Lewis uses these characters to highlight the devil’s tactics and the spiritual weapons available to us in overcoming them.
Women’s Sunday School: Esther (begins September 23)
8:30 am, the Bonus Room, TVC Main
This verse-by-verse study of the book of Esther is led by Christy Richardson and focuses on the lessons that can be pulled from this ancient text that applies to our lives today. Meets through October 28.
Women’s Sunday School: Contemplative
11:30 am, the Bonus Room, TVC Main
The focus of this contemplative prayer group led by Julie Guthrie is on a traditional practice of scripture reading, a quiet time of meditation on the passage, and then a shared time of prayer for each other. Meets through October 28.
